We had a Teddy Bear Picnic and here's what the students had to say about their bears:

Our theme was bears. They brought teddy bears in for show and tell. They had a teddy bear picnic in the classroom (for snack). We sorted the bears by size (small medium and large) and counted them.

"He's special."
"I love him much."
"I snuggle him."
"We snuggle."
"I sleep with him."
"I sit with him."
"I bring him everywhere."
"I like it a lot."
"It's really my sister's"
"It's not mine."
"It's my sister's."
"His name is Bunnyhop."
"I eat lunch with him."
"I draw pictures with him."
"I keep him in the toy box."
"He has to get washed."
"I had since I was a baby."
"I'm going to bring him outside in the morning."
"I got it from Christmas in the stocking."
"It flies."
"I had it for a long long time."

The boat comment is about Paddington bear. It has black boots on.

"When he's on the ship, (look at his boots)…"
"When he's on the boat he says, "Help! Help!."

I read a story about Johnny Appleseed to my students and asked them to tell me what
they remember about the story:

"He had a lot of seeds and he wanted to plant apple trees."
"They called him Johnny Appleseed."
"He had a lot of seeds and he accidentally got too much that didn't fit in the bag."
"I remember when the boy came to dinner at someone's house."
"Every time they saw an apple orchard they thought about him."
"There was so much of those flower things and everytime they saw them they thought about him."
"He went to Ohio."
"He started planting apple trees."
"He slept with a bear in a log."
"I wish the bear jumped on him and played with him."
"I think Johnny Appleseed should eat cereal with the bear."
"The bear eats some honey with him"
"I wish that Johnny Appleseed slept on the bottom of his sleeping bag."
"I wish he sleeped on a log."
"He planted seeds for him."
"I liked the end."
"Blossom bloomed."
"He put a seed on."
"He carried a seed."
